The paper presents the results of experimental studies of linear and nonlinear elastic properties of isostatic graphite and graphite of MPG-7 brand. In samples of isotropic structural graphite having the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped, the velocities of longitudinal and shear elastic waves and their dependence on the uniaxial compression of the sample under study were measured. Based on the results of these measurements, independent components of the second-order elasticity tensor in the samples were determined. The acoustoelastic effect in structural graphite was studied. The Thurston-Brugger method was used to calculate the independent components of the third-order elasticity tensor in samples of isostatic graphite and graphite of MPG-7 brand.
