Two-dimensional imaging plays an important role in microwave remote sensing. The most representative technique is the synthetic aperture radar (SAR), but it requires a moving platform and consequently requires complex motion compensation sensors. This letter proposes a simple two-dimensional imaging of targets by frequency diverse array (FDA). FDA provides a range-dependent beampattern, but it has an inherent range-angle ambiguity. We divide the FDA elements into two subarrays, each employing a different frequency increment. The two subarrays allow to be overlapped. Two-dimensional imaging of the targets can then be obtained from this stationary radar platform, without employing a moving radar platform like the SAR technique. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation results.
