The new reagent is entirely satisfactory in every respect for the estimation of sugar both in normal and in diabetic urine. It gives an intense color with normal urine which matches the standards perfectly and which does not change in value for 6 hour. The figures obtained are over 40 per cent lower than those given by the previously described reagent. This is a lower value than is given by the Benedict and Osterberg method even after using charcoal, and it seems certain that the new reagent is almost completely specific for reducing sugars.
