We evaluated the role of the vestibulocerebellum in the production of visual-vestibular-oculomotor reflexes in rabbits. Oculomotor responses (nystagmus) were compared with optokinetic, vestibular, and combined visual-vestibular stimuli, obtained before and after bilateral removal of the flocculus, paraflocculus, and paramedian lobes. Measurements were made in response to binocular and monocular stimulation. These experiments give further evidence that, in the rabbit, each eye is mainly connected to the ipsilateral vestibular floccular structures and corroborate previous investigations that point to the significance of the vestibulocerebellum in the optokinetic and visual-vestibular-ocular reflexes.
