The importance of public attitudes in the adoption of reclamation projects has been recognized for some time. We know that people9s perceptions and opinions are forces that can mean the difference between survival or extinction…success or failure. This is a reality that must be recognized in the way we plan and implement a reuse program. While there is no “fool-proof” guarantee of success, a sound pro-active communication and education program is essential. This paper will give some guidelines that you can use to develop a planned communication program that can help you reach technical objectives, obtain public support, and win acceptance for your program.
