In this paper, we present two explicit expressions of the moments M 2 k of the Kesten distribution in terms of Catalan's triangles T k, i= k− i+ 1 k+ 1 (k+ i k) and Shapiro's Catalan triangles B k, j= j k (2 k k− j), respectively. As a corollary, we provide a generalization of the identity, due to Eplett, between the Catalan number C k= 1 k+ 1 (2 k k) and the triangles B k, j. As an application, we obtain an asymptotic formula on M 2 k as k tends to infinity.
