A cDNA library prepared from lymphocytes from an A18/A31 bull was screened for MHC class I clones. Five representative clones (HD1, HD6, HD7, HD15 and HD59) were sequenced (GenBank/DDBJ accession numbers X80933, X89934, X80935, X80936 and X91794 respectively). HD59 represented a pseudogene, and the other sequences appeared to code for functional class I molecules. Expression of class I antigens occurred when HD1, HD6, HD7 and HD15 were cloned into an expression vector, and transfected into mouse P815 cells.
