We briefly propose frequency-domain (FD) asymptotic solutions for a scattered electric field by a two-dimensional (2-D) coated conducting cylinder. We assume that the thickness of a dielectric medium is thick as compared with the wavelength of a cylindrical wave radiated from an electric line source. The FD asymptotic solutions are composed of a geometrical optical ray (GO) series solution and an extended uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (UTD) series solution. Multiple reflected waves passing through a thick dielectric medium are added on to each series solution as compared with a conventional solution. The validity of the FD asymptotic solutions is confirmed by comparing with an exact solution and a conventional solution.
