A child with acute lymphocytic leukaemia developed mild herpes zoster 21 months after immunization with the varicella vaccine. Restriction endonuclease analysis of isolated virus established it to be of the vaccine type. This is the first case of zoster in a study of 238 vaccinees by the NIAID Varicella Vaccine Collaborative Study Group in the USA.newline˜D.W. FitzSimons
