Methods.All the experiments were performed on cats, anaesthetized with chloralose (0.07 glkg intravenously). Blood pressure was recorded from the femoral artery by means of an elastic or mercury manometer. Heparine was used as an anticoagulant. The drugs were administered either by intravenous injections through the femoral vein or locally through a cannula inserted in the kxternal carotid or by applying cotton wool pads soaked in solutions of the drugs on the sinus region.
