The purpose of the study is to control and suppress the cavitation caused in the inducer by J-groove. "J-groove" composed of shallow grooves made parallel to the pressure gradient on the casing wall is a very simple passive device to suppress several anomalous phenomena in turbomachinery. In this study the effects of J-groove to the inducer are examined in experimental approach, where the cavitation performance and pressure fluctuation on the wall are measured. J-groove is installed in the casing wall at near the blade tip to use the pressure difference around the blade tip of inducer. The results showed that the cavitation performance is remarkably improved and onset of backflow vortex cavitiaon is suppressed by Jgroove.
