This paper introduces the Special Issue on Climate Imaginaries and Mediums, arising from discussion among the guest editors and invited authors, and aims to contribute to the debate about climate imaginaries and more specifically to the understanding the role of medium and context in their production and circulation. The first part is a consideration of the relationship between climate and imaginaries and material practices and the second part outlines the six papers of the special issue: Davoudi and Machen,'Climate Imaginaries and the Mattering of the Medium'; Vervoort et al.,'Not just playing: the politics of designing games for impact on climate governance'; Doering et al.'Emplace climate imaginaries: the regional construction of climate futures on the German Wadden See coast; Thompson and Bann,'Turning to the Territory: A Gitga'at Nation case study of indigenous climate imaginaries and actions'; Englemann et al.'Open Weather: speculative-feminist propositions for planetary images in an era of climate crisis'; and Iossifides and Garforth,'Reimagining Climate Futures: Reading Annihilation'.
