Metabolism tests were made on 6 [male] Chip-pewa Indians ranging from 25 to 40 yrs. in age and on 7 [female][female] of the same tribe ranging from 15 to 50 yrs. in age. The tests were run at Churchill, Canada. The avg. values secured for the [male][male] were +18% and for the [female][female], +18.2% based on normal white standards. Basal tests made on 38 [male]? Eskimos from Chesterfield Inlet, Canada, ranging from 15 to 85 yrs., and on 34 [female][female] of the same tribe, ranging from 16 to 65 yrs. gave avg. basal values of +21.90% for the [male][male] and +27% for the [female][female]. The pulse rate of the [male] Indians averaged 53; that of the [male] Eskimos was 70. In the [female][female] Indians the pulse averaged 65 against 78.8 for the Eskimo [female][female]. Blood pressure of the Indian [male][male] averaged 120 systolic and 80 diastolic; that of the Eskimo [male][male] was 119 systolic and 75 diastolic. In the [female] Indians the blood pressure averaged 124 over 75 and 111 over 71 in the [female] Eskimos.
