The evolution and dissemination of technology have been triggering transformations that are changing the way people interact, react, behave and live. Our world is being strongly shaped by technological development and, while it has brought benefits to the human and planet's life, it has also caused negative impacts on them. In the last years, the issue of sustainability has drawn attention to the way how technology can both help and harm the planet's life, and some researchers are discussing on possible ways of integrating the concept of sustainability into the production of technology. In this paper we present some preliminary discussions on the concept of sustainability approaching it as a human value. We argue that the real question is to place values at the core of technology production and dissemination, so that the produced technology reflects the values of the people it is intended for.
