The Electrosurgical Knife The insulated-tip knife consists of a conventional diathermy needle-knife (KD-IL; Olympus Optical) with a ceramic ball at the top to minimize the risk of perforation (Figure 1). In Japan, this insulated-tip knife is now commercially available (KD-610L; Olympus Optical).
