In this chapter, the contents of this book are summarized, and the ins and outs of the QIMP field expounded. Some open questions are enumerated for researchers in the area, and some considerations provided to guide potential researchers in their pursuits. Although increasing numbers of researchers are working in the QIMP field, some fundamental problems remain unsolved. It is hoped that the open questions and future directions identified in this book will arouse the interest of more researchers and accelerate efforts toward realizing more sophisticated QIMP-based technologies.
