The anthocyanin pigments of 246 wild and cultivated plants grown in Trinidad, B.W.I., were surveyed by paper chrom atographic methods. The complexity of glycosidic com bination appears to be m uch greater than has hitherto been supposed. The hypothesis th a t there is a high frequency of pelargonidin among tropical plants has not been confirmed. Some speculations on the application of the results to theories of biogenesis are included.
