In each of two insulin-dependent diabetics in whom insulin resistance had developed, 6-mercaptopurine had no effect on the insulin requirement or insulin-binding capacity. By contrast, administration of prednisone 30 mg. daily led to a sharp drop in insulin requirement in both cases, and to a decline in insulin-binding capacity in one.
