Kawasaki disease is a systemic febrile illness of childhood characterized by diffuse vasculitis. The most serious complication is coronary arteritis, leading to aneurysm formation in 20–25% of untreated patients. 1 Although half the aneurysms will regress over time, those that persist might be associated with coronary artery stenosis, ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, and sudden death, especially if giant aneurysms (greater than 8 mm) are present. 1 Only three previous case reports of pregnancies following Kawasaki disease were identified in a MEDLINE search from 1976 to December 1998, using search terms “Kawasaki disease” and “pregnancy.” 2–4 Successful pregnancy in a woman with a history of Kawasaki disease and aneurysms of two coronary arteries is reported.
