The Good Behavior Game (GBG) is a classroom behavior management strategy with origins in the field of applied behavior analysis that has been shown to not only reduce disruptive classroom behavior but also prevent more serious problems in adolescence (e.g., initiation of smoking, aggressive behavior). In this chapter, we discuss the origins and conceptual foundation of the GBG, review research demonstrating its immediate and long-term effects, describe various ways in which the GBG has been modified and combined with other interventions, and provide best practice guidelines on implementing the GBG.
