When given at 2.5 mg/kg body-weight, triclabendazole (CGA 89317) was 89.9 and 98.1% effective against 8- and 12-week-oldF. hepaticarespectively in experimentally infected sheep. At 5 mg/kg it was 91.7 and 98.3% effective against 4- and 8-week-old flukes and 100% against 12-week-old flukes. At 10 mg/kg it was 92.8 and 97.8% effective against one-week-old flukes (2 groups of sheep), ≥ 99.2% against 2- or 4-week-old flukes and 100% against 6-week-old flukes. If the dose was raised to 15 mg/kg the drug eliminated 98.0% of one-day-old flukes. Triclabendazole was equally efficient when administered orally or by intraruminal or intra-abomasal injection. The maximum tolerated dose was 200 mg/kg.
