Theproposed elastic potential is completely determined by two moduli, Gx and GN. Their sum is the equilibrium modulus, G, which can be obtained from stress relaxation measurements on the cross-linked material, in the linear region. It is shown that GN is proportional to GN, the plateau modulus of a high molecular weight un-cross-linked sample of the same polymer. The proportionality constant appears to be independent of the cross-link density and of the nature of the polymer. Its best current estimate is 0.354.
