Kinetics of the reaction of CF3O2radicals with O(3P) atoms

A discharge fast-flow tube equipped with laser-induced fluorescence detection for NO 2 , produced from the titration of CF 3 O 2 with NO, and chemiluminescence detection for O( 3 P), was employed to determine the rate constant for the reaction CF 3 O 2 +O( 3 P)→products, at T=296±1 K and P=ca. 2 Torr. The rate constant was found to be (6.3±1.0)×10 -11 cm 3 molecule -1 s -1 . Some implications of the results for atmospheric chemistry are discussed.
