Both the number ofattacks (NA) and elapsed time in collapse (ET) were mea-sured as an index of cataplexy severity. Further supportingthe diagnosis of narcolepsy and cataplexy, we measured adramatic response to IV yohimbine (Figs 1, 2; NA and ETwith no treatment: median, 6 collapses and 50.5 seconds,respectively; NA and ET with 0.048 mg/kg IV: median, 0.5collapses [P 5 .004] and 9.5 seconds [P 5 .005, Wilcoxonrank sum test], respectively).
