Silkworms spin cocoons fixing the rear half of their body to the cocoon and sometimes move the fixed position to adjust the direction of spinning. They repeat these fixing and moving of the body over the entire spinning process. In this paper, we investigated silkworm's moving patterns of the rear half of the body from the base to the cocoon construction stage for different kinds of species. In addition, we tried to represent the occurrence of the fixing and moving of the body as a stochastic model after fitting appropriate probability distributions to measurements of the fixing and moving periods, respectively. Then, a silkworm's fixing and moving behaviour was reconstructed using this stochastic model. The result showed that the distribution of moving periods of the body did not change over the entire spinning process, but that the occurrence pattern of the fixing period was different among species. In particular, Chinese species showed a peculiar pattern that the fixing period was long at an early stage of the spinning while it was extremely short at a later stage. Furthermore, simulation experiments showed that the stochastic model constructed in this paper was an appropriate one to represent silkworm's moving patterns.
