Ultra-light porous metals are novel multi-functinal materials,following the rapid development of new manufacturing technologies and materials processing.In this paper,a state-of-the-art review of the re- search and development on porous cellular metals is presented,including stochastic metallic foams and periodic lattice metals.New research directions about these materials are also discussed,with emphasis placed on their multifunctionality and commercial applications.
