Our object in this article is to present some numerical schemes for a two-layer quasi-geostrophic model of the ocean and to study the stability of these schemes. We prove the unconditional stability of our numerical schemes. Numerical results from a wind-driven two-layer quasi-geostrophic model of the ocean using these schemes are also presented.
