When 2 typhoid fever outbreaks occurred in a Royal Air Force unit within a 5 months period, it was observed that 11 men had 2d attacks. The 2 outbreaks were caused by different phage types of Salmonella typhosa. All who were patients in the 1st epidemic had recovered at the time of the 2d. The impression that 2d attacks are rare may be false.
