Laser-induced optoacoustic spectroscopy (LIOAS) has been used for the quantitative analysis of pH and/or CO2 in aqueous solutions. This technique implies the precise measurement of spectral variations of indicator dyes adsorbed on surfaces (e.g., polymer membranes). Optimization of the pH-sensitive membrane and of the sensor module leads to promising results due to the higher sensitivity of LIOAS in comparison with the conventional analysis by reflection spectroscopy.
