A new Fe-based bulk glassy alloy with high glass-forming ability super-high fracture strength. and plasticity is described. The [(Fe0.8Co0.1Ni0.1)(0.75)B0.2Si0.05](96)Nb-4 alloy has a super-high strength of over 4000 MPa, the highest yet reported for Fe-based bulk alloys. In compressive failure. a shear band with an angle of 43degrees relative to the compression direction can be observed by scanning electron microscopy (see Figure).
