In this article, I would like to address the theme of the relationships between mathematicians and research in mathematics education from two different points of view:
1.
Firstly, as a researcher in the didactics of mathematics — mainly by using my personal experience as a researcher in the didactics of analysis both at high school and university level,
2.
Secondly, as a representative, in some sense, of the French didacticians inside the mathematics community — mainly by using my experience as a member of the national committee in charge of the appointment and promotion of mathematicians.
