An important goal of the National Ground Water Association Microbial Ground Water Quality Interest Group (MGWQIG) is to provide science-based strategies and the best available technologies to ensure the safest portable ground water for the public. Here, Smith discusses a study embarked by some members of the MGWQIG on disinfection technologies that would be suitable for use to improve the water quality in wells inundated by floodwaters. Accounts detailing the observations, conclusions, and recommendations of the study are also presented.
