Caring for a Dying Relative: A Guide for Families D Doyle. 106 pages. New York: Oxford Univ Pr; 1994. $14.95. ISBN 0-19-262487-3. Order phone 800-451-7556. Doyle, medical director of a hospice in Scotland, describes caring for the dying as the ultimate challenge. Britishisms are not intrusive and do not negate the value of Doyle's suggestions. His description of the family doctor's changing assessment by the bereaved family is of interest. The appendixes list useful equipment, some of it obvious, and include a suggested reading list. Doyle believes that a call by a dying patient for suicide assistance or for euthanasia is almost always a call for better treatment, especially better pain control.
