A method is described whereby an efficient finite element discretization scheme for a shell of revolution can be predetermined and subsequently refined for successive analyses by considering the following criteria:
1.Stress intensification in the vicinity of a concentrated action.
2.Variation in the strain energy intensity function.
Several case problems have been studied to validate the procedure.
