The impact of vaccines in limiting childhood morbidity and mortality due to infectious disease, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, cannot be understated. However, the recrudescence of infectious disease burden to prevaccine levels in Africa, owed to such factors as the exponential growth of antimicrobial resistance, the limited effectiveness of vaccines (eg, incomplete protection, partly due to the changing epidemiology of pathogens), and causal agents of neglected, emerging, or re-emerging diseases of epidemic potential, mandates the use of a higher throughout vaccinology stratagem.
