Rift Valley fever occurred in cattle and sheep in the rainy season of 1973/1974 and 1977/1978 in the Chisamba area of the Central Province. In CF tests in 1982/1983 on serum samples on 116 cattle and 442 sheep on four farms in this area, 6 (5%) and 73 (15.8%) were positive, respectively.
