Residues of organochlorine insecticides were surveyed in 3 fields in Japan from October 1991, October 1989 and April 1991, respectively. Dieldrin was found at 0.05 µg/g in soil of the 1st field. Trans-chlordane, cis-chlordane and trans-nonachlor were found in the other 2 fields. It is concluded that these pesticides have a long persistence in soil.
