The article presents the result of a study which examined DNA repair through photolyase in Escherichia coli and nucleotide excision repair in both microorganism and humans. The variables considered include the role of the (UVrA)2homodimer in identifying the DNA damage site, the mechanism of Escherichia coli transcription-coupled repair, and excision DNA repair in humans. A discussion on the excision repair map of the human genome at single nucleotide resolution is offered.
