Sharing services such as carsharing and ridesharing have been widely spreading in our modern society. This paper considers “Car Ride Sharing (CRS)” which is a mixed model of carsharing and ridesharing. CRS is a new means of transportation which shares “car” and “ride” simultaneously and it is expected to reduce the redistribution cost of cars. We introduce CRS to a scenario with two points between which transportation service by bus already exists. We model this system as a queuing model, formulated by a Markov chain of GI/M/1-type, and derive the steady state distribution of the queue-length. Besides, we derive the stability condition which must be satisfied to ensure proper function of CRS and some performance measures such as average waiting time of customers. Based on these results, we conduct some numerical experiments to show the effectiveness and possibility of CRS.
