In a previous study the conductivity of TZP (tetragonal zirconia polycrystals) containing 1.4 mol% Y/sub 2/O/sub 3/ was found to be slightly lower than that of Y-PSZ (partially stabilized zirconia) and Y-FSZ (fully stabilized zirconia). As these results were obtained from measurements conducted at only one a.c. frequency, is not known to what extent they were affected by grain boundary or electrode polarization. The grain interior, grain boundary and electrode resistivities may be resolved using complex plain analysis, which requires measurements over a range of frequencies. In this letter we report the results of such a study of two samples of TZP and compare their resolved resistivities with those obtained for yttria doped PSZ and FSZ.
