integration of outcrop data, wireline logs, and palynology shows the unconformity separating the Jurassic and Cretaceous rocks in central and northeastern long 30 35 Ma. Ten pollen dates in the Wind Black Hills, Bighorn show the Cloverly, Fuson, and Lakota Early to Middle Albian. These dates supported by a recent report by Obradovich and others (1996) flooding event rocks (i.e., Skull Creek Shale 104.4 Ma). shale has correlated to be time-equivalent to the lower Thermopolis Shale in the Bighorn Basin where this shale directly overlies the Sykes Mt. Formation The Sykes Mt. is equivalent to the Fall River Formation of the Black Hills.
