T he recent 8th International Cancer Conference, hosted by Trinity College Dublin’s School of Medicine, attracted speakers and delegates from across Europe, the US, and Asia. Acknowledging the school’s 300th anniversary, several sessions included a historical slant tracing how far cancer treatments have evolved before outlining future expectations. Gene-based targeted therapies dominated the conference, many of them close to clinical trials.
