The solubility of oxygen in various alkanolamine–water solutions is a key issue in dealing with the problems like alkanolamine degradation kinetics and corrosion of steel in alkanolamine solutions and it also has attracted extensive concerns, especially in the research community of carbon capture and storage. However, the available data are very limited, with only one open published paper by Rooney and Daniels related with this issue,[1] which has also been widely cited. In that paper, the oxygen solubility in various alkanolamine–water mixtures, including 50 wt% methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), 30wt% MDEA, 30wt% diethanolamine (DEA), 20wt% monoethanolamine, and 50wt% diglycolamine, was measured by using Mettler Toledo 120-mm dissolved oxygen probe. The solubility of oxygen in deionized water was also contained in the measurement in order to compare with the existing fit equations for deionized water.
