In attempts to estimate RNA in samples of thyroid tissue by a modified Schmidt-Thannhauser method using ultraviolet absorption measurements following I h incubation in alkali, interference due to the presence of polypeptide material was encountered. A two-wavelength method has been devised which eliminates errors from this source.
