An approximate solution of the transport equation is found for aerosols in the flow approaching a nuclepore filter. Small aerosols are collected on the front face of the filter owning to Brownian diffusion relative to the mean flow path lines. A formula is derived for the diffusive collection efficiency of the filter, and it is valid for filter porosites in the range 0.05-0.64.
