Pair comparisons were made for 47 rats from 15 groups of sizes 11, 6, and 2 across 30 food competition trials with number of competitions held constant by arranging multiple round-robins for smaller groups. All size groups attained stability, eventually with larger groups requiring more trials. Comparison of stability coefficients between adjacent and remote competition blocks suggested a distinction between short-and long-term stability. Comparison of stability coefficients based on number-of-wins scores and on time scores (absolute and proportionate) suggested that the latter were more stable.(PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
