A method to determine intermolt stages in Antarctic and boreal euphausiids is introduced. The system is based on the classical scheme elaborated by Drach and Tchernigovtzeff. In addition to the definitions of these authors, several features unique to euphausiids are described and combined to establish a system of at least 12 easily distinguishable stages. The method can be used to investigate specific cyclical physiological changes as well as answer questions regarding general growth physiology.
