A Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) is designed to study the hot and dense QCD matter created in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions and to study the phase transition between confined matter and the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). Photons, produced throughout all stages of the collisions, is believed to carry important information on the hot dense system. In ALICE, photons can be precisely measured by the electromagnetic calorimeter PHOS (PHOton Spectrometer) over a wide momentum range. Here we introduce the PHOS detector and present the chain of data processing from raw data to physics results.
