To enhance the absorption in the visible region for supported TiO2, Fe doped TiO2coatings have been prepared in one step by a co-deposition process of metal organic chemical vapor deposition method. The results of XANES indicate that iron exists as isolated octahedrally coordinated Fe3+ions substituting Ti4+in the TiO2lattice. EDX reveals that iron has a uniform distribution within Fe–TiO2coatings. UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectra show a slight shift to longer wavelengths and an enhancement of the absorption in the visible region (>400nm) for the Fe doped TiO2coatings, compared to the non-doped sample. The Fe doped TiO2samples exhibited good photocatalytic activities for the degradation of methyl orange under visible light irradiation.
