1. In this paper explicit expressions are found for the partial quotients and convergents of the simple continued fractions for the numbers e2/&, where k is a positive integer J. The method is suggested by Hermite's proof § that e is a transcendental number. The approximations he uses for e and its integral powers are not, however, convergents to their respective continued fractions.
